What Is the Function of the Stabilizer Link?

2024-07-29

The stabilizer link is a key auxiliary elastic element in the automobile suspension system and plays a vital role. It ensures the stability and safety of the vehicle during driving by preventing the body from rolling, improving driving smoothness, and transmitting pressure.

1. Preventing body roll

Improving stability: The main function of the stabilizer link is to prevent the body from rolling too much laterally when turning, thereby maintaining the stability of the vehicle. When the vehicle is turning, due to the action of centrifugal force, the body will have a tendency to roll. The stabilizer link reduces the roll amplitude through its elastic action, allowing the vehicle to drive more stably.

Preventing rollover: In extreme cases, such as high-speed turns or encountering emergencies, the stabilizer link can also effectively prevent the vehicle from rolling laterally and improve driving safety.

2. Improving driving smoothness

Reducing bumps: The stabilizer link connects the two sides of the frame and applies a downward force to the frame on the rising side, thereby maintaining the lateral stability of the vehicle, reducing the body bumps when driving on uneven roads, and improving ride comfort.

3. Other functions

Transferring pressure: The stabilizer link can also transfer the pressure on the outer wheels to the inner side during the vehicle's driving, helping to maintain the force balance on both sides of the vehicle body, so that the balance of the vehicle body can be effectively maintained.
